Kaolack is a town in Senegal on the north bank of the Saloum River about 100 kilometres from its mouth, with a population of 298,904. It serves as capital of the Kaolack Region and is an important regional market centre, functioning as Senegal's primary hub for peanut trading and processing as well as a significant centre for Islamic education within the Tijaniyyah Sufi order.
