Kasane is a town in the far northeastern corner of Botswana, serving as the administrative center of Chobe District near the point where the borders of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe nearly meet. It lies on the south bank of the Chobe River, which forms the border with Namibia's Caprivi Strip. The 2011 census recorded 9,244 residents. Kasane is a key gateway to Chobe National Park and gained wider notice when actress Elizabeth Taylor remarried actor Richard Burton there in 1975 at the Chobe Safari Lodge.
