Kigoma is a city and lake port in Kigoma-Ujiji District, Tanzania, on the northeastern shore of Lake Tanganyika, close to the borders with Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It serves as the capital of the surrounding Kigoma Region, sits at an elevation of about 775 meters, and has a population of 232,388.
