Kokand is a city in Fergana Region in eastern Uzbekistan, at the southwestern edge of the Fergana Valley, with a population of about 259,700 as of 2022. It served as the capital of the Khanate of Kokand from 1740, a state that at its height reached as far as Kyzylorda to the west and Bishkek to the northeast, and it briefly hosted the short-lived Kokand Autonomy of 1917 to 1918 before Soviet forces took control.
