Lobatse is a town in southeastern Botswana, about 70 kilometers south of the capital Gaborone, situated in a valley on the border with South Africa, and had a population of 29,772 as of 2022. The town is an administrative district with its own town council and sits at an elevation of about 1,188 meters in a semi-arid climate. Its economy centers on the Botswana Meat Commission, one of the largest meat processing plants in Africa, and the town also hosts a branch of the High Court of Botswana, a psychiatric hospital and a prison. Lobatse is twinned with the Namibian port town of Walvis Bay.
