Mopti is a town in central Mali and the capital of both Mopti Cercle and Mopti Region, situated in the Inner Niger Delta about 630 kilometers northeast of Bamako at the confluence of the Niger and Bani rivers. It is linked by an elevated causeway to the neighboring town of Sevare, and the combined urban commune of Mopti and Sevare had a population of 114,296 at the 2009 census.
