Multan is a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan, on the eastern bank of the Chenab River, the sixth-largest city in the country and administrative headquarters of its eponymous division and district. Known as the City of Saints for the many Sufi shrines and mausoleums within it, Multan is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in South Asia and remains an important center of agriculture, handicrafts and trade.
