Rufisque is a city in the Dakar region of western Senegal, at the base of the Cap-Vert Peninsula about 25 kilometers east of Dakar. Its population reached 295,459 at the 2023 census. The city was once an important port in its own right and is now a suburb of Dakar, and it also serves as capital of the department that shares its name.
