Vijayawada, also called Bezawada, is the second largest city and a major commercial hub in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, situated on the banks of the Krishna river and forming part of the state's Capital Region. Known as a gateway to the state's coastal delta districts, the city is a busy center for trade, education and transportation, with the large Prakasam Barrage across the Krishna a major local landmark.
