Warri is a city in Delta State, in Nigeria's Niger Delta, on the Warri River. Its urban population was about 363,400 in 2016, with a metropolitan population of over 1 million. An oil-industry hub with a refinery, petrochemical facilities and a seaport, Warri is home to the indigenous Itsekiri, Urhobo and Ijaw peoples and served as capital of the British colonial Warri Province in the early twentieth century.
