A rock formation in the shape of an arch, spanning a gap and carrying rock across it, typically formed where a stream has cut through a narrow neck of rock, or where the collapse of a cave's roof has left a surviving section standing as a span. Natural bridges are distinguished from a natural arch chiefly by their formation directly over active or former flowing water.
