Ranthambore National Park is a national park in eastern Rajasthan, India, established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and designated one of the founding reserves of Project Tiger in 1973 before being declared a national park in 1980. The park surrounds the ruined Ranthambore Fort and is known for a relatively high density of tigers that can be observed hunting by day, alongside leopard, sloth bear and marsh crocodile populations, across dry deciduous forest, lakes and rocky outcrops where the Aravalli and Vindhya hill ranges meet. It is managed by the Rajasthan state forest department as part of India's tiger reserve network.
