Rajasthan is a state in northwestern India and the largest Indian state by area, covering more than a tenth of the country's total land, most of it the arid Thar Desert. It borders the Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Sindh along its western edge and five Indian states, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, and is the seventh largest Indian state by population.
