Barbilla National Park

Barbilla National Park lies on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera de Talamanca in Costa Rica, spanning Cartago and Limon provinces within the La Amistad Caribbean Conservation Area. The area was first protected as a biological reserve in 1982 and was upgraded to national park status in 1998. Its roughly 119 square kilometers range in elevation from about 330 to 4,920 feet and hold both lowland rainforest and cloud forest, home to more than 350 recorded bird species and 135 mammal species, with the Indigenous Cabecar people living within and around the park.
