Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park occupies a small island in the Ohio River in Wood County, West Virginia, once the site of a Palladian style mansion built in 1799 by Harman Blennerhassett and his wife Margaret. The island became notorious for its connection to an alleged plot against the United States involving Aaron Burr, and the original mansion burned in 1811. West Virginia State Parks now manages the roughly 511 acre island, where a detailed replica of the mansion was reconstructed in the 1980s and the site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
