The Bonaire National Marine Park is one of the oldest marine reserves in the world, established in 1979 around the Caribbean island of Bonaire and the nearby islet of Klein Bonaire. It covers about 2,700 hectares of sea from the high water line down to sixty meters and protects coral reef, seagrass and mangrove habitat, including the Lac Bay lagoon.
