Chiloé National Park

Chiloé National Park, on the Pacific coast of Chiloé Island in the Los Lagos Region of Chile, was created by supreme decree in 1982 and formally established in 1983, covering about 430.57 square kilometers across two sectors, Chepu and Anay. It protects dunes, Valdivian temperate rainforest, swamps and peat bogs, and the offshore Gulf of Corcovado is one of only a handful of known feeding grounds for pygmy blue whales in the Southern Hemisphere; the park is also an Important Bird Area, home to the Chilean pigeon and the slender billed parakeet.
