Desert National Park

Desert National Park is a national park in the Indian state of Rajasthan, near the towns of Jaisalmer and Barmer, covering about 3,162 square kilometers of the Thar Desert. It was gazetted in 1980 and formally established in 1981, and roughly 44 percent of its landscape is sand dunes, with the remainder made up of craggy rocks and compact salt lake beds. The park hosts numerous migratory and resident bird species, including eagles, falcons and bustards, and contains fossils from the Jurassic period as well as dinosaur remains roughly 65 to 66 million years old.
