Devils Postpile National Monument is a United States national monument in eastern California, near Mammoth Mountain, protecting the Devils Postpile columnar basalt formation and Rainbow Falls on the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River. The monument covers a comparatively small 798 acres, and the John Muir Trail and Pacific Crest Trail merge into a single route as they pass through it. Aside from a small developed area holding the monument headquarters, visitor center and a campground, the monument lies entirely within the surrounding Ansel Adams Wilderness.
