Diego Ramírez Islands and Drake Passage National Park protects a vast stretch of subantarctic ocean south of Tierra del Fuego in the Magallanes Region of Chile, established as a marine park in 2018 and redesignated a national park in 2025, covering roughly 14,439,060 hectares, among the largest protected areas in the Americas. It safeguards the Sars Seamount, which rises about 4,000 meters from the seafloor to within about 100 meters of the surface, and pelagic bird habitat for wandering albatrosses, southern fulmars and the endemic subantarctic rayadito, along with elephant seals and penguins, and it has no permanent visitor access beyond passing cruise ships bound for Antarctica.
