Dongsha Atoll National Park is the seventh national park of Taiwan, established on 17 January 2007 and managed by the Ministry of the Interior. The marine park is located near Pratas Island in the northern South China Sea and includes Dongsha Atoll, a circular atoll about 25 kilometres in diameter with a tropical monsoon climate, along with the surrounding seas, for a total protected area of 3,537 square kilometres. It is not open to tourism because of ongoing environmental restoration, safety concerns, and ecological research.
