Dudhwa National Park

Dudhwa National Park is a national park in the Terai belt of marshy grasslands in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, India, covering about 490 square kilometers with an additional 190 square kilometer buffer zone. It began as a wildlife sanctuary in 1958 to protect swamp deer and was formally designated a national park in January 1977 after advocacy by conservationist Billy Arjan Singh, later becoming the core of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. The park holds Bengal tigers, Indian rhinoceroses and more than 400 recorded bird species.
