Forollhogna National Park spans the Trondelag and Innlandet counties of Norway across the municipalities of Tynset, Tolga, Os, Holtalen, Midtre Gauldal and Rennebu, established on December 21, 2001 as Norway's 19th national park and covering about 1,062 square kilometers. Known for its gentle, rolling alpine terrain, it is an important habitat for wild reindeer and preserves a centuries-old tradition of summer mountain farming; it takes its name from the central mountain and lake Forollen, with hogna meaning defender or protector.
