Gargano National Park

Gargano National Park is a national park in the province of Foggia in southern Italy, established in 1991 and covering about 118,144 hectares, making it the largest park in Apulia. Besides the Gargano promontory that gives it its name, including the ancient Foresta Umbra woodlands, the park also takes in the Tremiti Islands archipelago and the Lago Salso wetlands. It is one of the most biodiverse areas in Western Europe, home to many wild orchid species including several bee orchids of the genus Ophrys, and to beech trees estimated at 350 years old.
