George Washington Birthplace National Monument is a National Park Service site in Westmoreland County, Virginia, at the confluence of Popes Creek and the Potomac River. It preserves and commemorates the site where George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, and where he lived until age three and again as a teenager. Congress established the monument on January 23, 1930, and it now covers about 662 acres of Tidewater farmland, including a reconstructed colonial-era farm and family burial ground.
