Gunung Leuser National Park is a national park covering 7,927 square kilometers in northern Sumatra, Indonesia, straddling the border of Aceh and North Sumatra provinces. Situated in the Barisan mountain range, it is named after Mount Leuser, which rises to 3,119 meters, and it protects a wide range of ecosystems, including an orangutan sanctuary at Bukit Lawang. Together with Bukit Barisan Selatan and Kerinci Seblat National Parks, it forms the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
