Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park is the largest national park within Alberta's Rocky Mountains, Canada, covering about 11,000 square kilometres north of Banff National Park and west of Edmonton. First protected as Jasper Forest Park in 1907, it was renamed and reclassified as a national park in 1930 and, together with the other Canadian Rocky Mountain parks, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. The park protects the glaciers of the Columbia Icefield along with numerous lakes, waterfalls and mountain peaks across one of the largest contiguous protected areas in the Canadian Rockies.
