Karijini National Park

Karijini National Park is centered on the Hamersley Range in the Pilbara region of northwestern Western Australia, about 1,055 kilometers from Perth. Established in 1969 under the name Hamersley Range National Park before being renamed in 1991, it covers about 6,274 square kilometers, making it the second largest national park in Western Australia. The park is known for deep gorges containing slot canyons, waterfalls, and waterholes cut into rock estimated at 2.5 billion years old, and it lies on the traditional homeland of the Banyjima, Kurrama, and Innawonga peoples, whose occupation of the area spans more than 20,000 years.
