Ķemeri National Park lies west of the city of Jurmala, Latvia, and was established in 1997. It is the third largest national park in the country, covering 381.65 square kilometers of mostly forest and mire, the most significant of which is the Great Ķemeri Bog. The park also contains several lakes that were once lagoons of the ancient Littorina Sea, including Lake Kanieris, a Ramsar site, and protects mineral springs and muds that have been used for centuries and that led to the development of resorts, spas and sanitariums in the area during the 19th century.
