Kora National Park

Kora National Park lies in Tana River County, Kenya, about 125 kilometers east of Mount Kenya, first protected as a nature reserve in 1973 and elevated to national park status in 1989 following the murder of conservationist George Adamson by poachers. It covers about 1,788 square kilometers of acacia bushland studded with granite inselbergs, the highest being Mansumbi at 488 meters, with the Tana River forming its northern boundary and creating features such as Adamson's Falls and Grand Falls. Wildlife includes caracal, cheetah, African bush elephant, hippopotamus, spotted and striped hyena, leopard, lion and serval, alongside riverine forests of doum palm and Tana River poplar.
