Linnansaari National Park lies in the South Savo and Northern Savonia regions of Finland, in the middle of Lake Haukivesi, part of the greater Saimaa lake system. It was established to conserve the valuable natural features of the Finnish lakeland and is home to the critically endangered Saimaa ringed seal. Its main island holds an old croft where slash-and-burn agriculture continues to maintain the cultural landscape, alongside coniferous and herb-rich forest.
