Litchfield National Park

Litchfield National Park lies near the township of Batchelor, about 100 kilometers southwest of Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory. Proclaimed a national park in 1986 and formally established on July 29, 1991, it covers about 1,458 square kilometers. The park is known for waterfalls including Wangi Falls, Florence Falls, and Tolmer Falls, along with distinctive magnetic termite mounds and pockets of monsoon rainforest, and it holds cultural significance for the Kungarakan and Marranunggu peoples, whose sacred sites lie within its boundaries. It is named for Frederick Henry Litchfield, an early Northern Territory pioneer, and draws more than 329,000 visitors a year.
