Mljet National Park, designated in 1960, protects the western portion of the Adriatic island of Mljet in Croatia, covering about 5,300 hectares that include two saltwater lakes, Veliko jezero and Malo jezero, Soline Bay and the surrounding coastal waters. Veliko jezero contains the Isle of St Mary and its monastery, a noted scenic attraction, and the park also protects a sea belt extending 500 meters from the island's most prominent headland. Three villages, Govedari, Polace and Pomena, lie within the park's boundaries.
