Mochima National Park lies on the northeastern coast of Venezuela, across the Anzoategui and Sucre states, and was created on December 19, 1973. Covering about 94,935 hectares, it combines an exclusively marine sector in Anzoategui, a coastal marine area including the Gulf of Santa Fe and Mochima Bay, and a mountainous sector covering the Turimiquire Dam watershed in Sucre. The park protects the montane forests of the Turimiquire Range along with the country's eastern Caribbean marine landscapes.
