Mudumalai National Park is a protected area in the Nilgiri Mountains of Tamil Nadu, India, covering about 321 square kilometers at elevations between 850 and 1,250 meters and bordering both Karnataka and Kerala. It has been under protection since 1940, joined the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in 1986, and was declared a tiger reserve in 2007 with an additional 368 square kilometer buffer zone. Its moist broadleaf forest supports nearly 500 recorded plant species, more than 260 bird species, and a range of carnivores and herbivores, drained by the Moyar River and its tributaries.
