Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara

Pairc Naisiunta na Mara is a marine national park in County Kerry, Ireland, announced in April 2024 as the first national park in the country focused mainly on coastal and ocean conservation. Centered on the Dingle and Iveragh peninsulas, it is intended to cover about 70,000 acres, or some 280 square kilometers, of land and sea, which would make it the largest national park in Ireland. The area includes the Skellig Michael UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Blasket Islands, the Mount Brandon nature reserve, Puffin Island and a fossil tetrapod trackway on Valentia Island, and it holds some of the largest colonies of puffins, storm petrels and Manx shearwaters in Europe. It is overseen by the National Parks and Wildlife Service of Ireland, and as of its 2024 announcement the park was still being established.
