Patagonia National Park

Patagonia National Park, in the Aysen Region of Chile, was transferred to the Chilean state by Tompkins Conservation and formally established in 2018, covering about 3,045.28 square kilometers centered on the Chacabuco Valley, an east west passage through the Andes between General Carrera Lake and Cochrane Lake. The valley bridges the arid Patagonian steppe of Argentina with the temperate southern beech forests of Chilean Patagonia, and the park was created together with four other new national parks under a January 2018 decree signed by President Michelle Bachelet and Kristine Tompkins covering roughly 260,000 hectares in total.
