Rago National Park

Rago National Park is situated in Sorfold Municipality in Nordland county, Norway, roughly ten kilometers northeast of Straumen and east of European route E6. Established on 22 January 1971 and covering 171 square kilometers, it borders Sweden's Padjelanta National Park, together forming part of one of the largest connected protected areas in Europe at about 5,400 square kilometers. The park's two large lakes, Storskogvatnet and Litlverivatnet, sit alongside glaciers in the southeast, and its sparse pine forest and alpine plants support moose, semi-domesticated reindeer and wolverines, with willow grouse and golden eagles commonly seen.
