Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park protects the northwestern tip of Hokkaido, Japan, designated on September 20, 1974 and covering about 242 square kilometers across Rishiri and Rebun islands and a mainland coastal strip. Mount Rishiri rises 1,721 meters above Rishiri Island, known for its alpine flora, while the Sarobetsu Plain on the mainland is a Ramsar-listed peat bog wetland bordered by kelp-rich coastal waters.
