Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park is a Tennessee state park in Pall Mall, set along the Wolf River, that preserves the farm and gristmill of World War I soldier Alvin C. York, along with his house, general store and post office, the Wolf River Cemetery where York and his family are buried, the Wolf River Methodist Church, and the York Bible Institute. York, a decorated Medal of Honor recipient for leading a small group of survivors to capture 132 German soldiers during the Meuse-Argonne campaign in 1918, lived in the area his entire life; the Nashville Rotary Club bought him the farm in 1922, and his widow donated it to the state of Tennessee after his death in 1964.
