Shilin, also known as the Stone Forest, is a notable set of limestone formations covering about five hundred square kilometers in Shilin Yi Autonomous County in Yunnan province, China. It lies approximately ninety kilometers east of the provincial capital, Kunming. The formations are tall grey limestone pillars and pinnacles, shaped by weathering into dense, forest-like clusters that give the site its name.
