Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park

Skarvan and Roltdalen National Park spans the municipalities of Selbu, Tydal, Meraker and Stjordal in Trondelag county, Norway, near the Swedish border, and opened in 2004 over 441.5 square kilometers. The Roltdalen valley, the largest roadless mountain valley in southern Trondelag, is dominated by extensive spruce forest, while the Skarvan mountain range stretches from Ruten to Fongen through terrain typical of the region's cultural and natural history. Vegetation runs from mixed spruce-pine forest at lower elevations to alpine heath above 1,000 meters, and peatlands cover more than 40 percent of the park, supporting numerous breeding waterbirds and alpine-nesting sea ducks.
