Snæfellsjökull National Park is a national park on the westernmost tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in western Iceland. It encompasses Snæfellsjökull, a glacier capped stratovolcano about 700,000 years old and one of the most famous natural landmarks in Iceland, known internationally for its role in the 1864 novel Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne, in which the protagonists find the passage to the center of the Earth on the mountain.
