Vatnajokull National Park is a national park in southeastern Iceland, established in 2008 by merging two earlier national parks with the surrounding highlands, and centered on Vatnajokull, the largest ice cap in Iceland and one of the largest in Europe by volume. The park covers a substantial share of Iceland's total land area, encompassing subglacial volcanoes, including Bardarbunga and Grimsvotn, alongside glacial rivers, waterfalls and canyons carved by repeated volcanic and glacial activity. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019 and is administered by the Icelandic Environment Agency.
