Vesuvius National Park is an Italian national park centered on the active volcano Vesuvius, southeast of Naples in the Province of Naples, founded on 5 June 1995. It covers roughly 72 to 135 square kilometers by different measures, is centered on the volcano and its older, now inactive crater Monte Somma, and is home to 612 plant species and 227 animal species. The nearest city is Torre del Greco.
