Yanbaru National Park protects subtropical evergreen laurel forest at the northern end of Okinawa Island, Japan, established on September 15, 2016 as the country's 33rd national park and covering about 136 square kilometers. Its designation date commemorates the 1983 discovery of the endangered Yambaru long-armed scarab beetle, found only in this region, and the park was inscribed as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the Ryukyu Islands in 2021.
