Sudanian Savanna

The Sudanian savanna, also called the Sudan region, is a broad belt of tropical savanna that runs east and west across the African continent, from the Ethiopian Highlands in the east to the Atlantic Ocean in the west. It forms the central bioregion within the broader tropical savanna biome of the Afrotropical realm. To its north lies the drier Sahel acacia savanna, a transition zone toward the Sahara Desert, while to its south a more humid forest-savanna mosaic forms a transition toward the Guineo-Congolian forests nearer the equator.
