Enugu State is a state in the southeastern region of Nigeria, bordered by Kogi and Benue to the north, Ebonyi to the east, Abia and Imo to the south and Anambra to the west. Its capital is Enugu, a city whose name comes from the coal deposits that made it a major mining center under British colonial rule.
