Goias is a Brazilian state in the Central-West region, bordering the Federal District and the states of Tocantins, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso. Its capital is Goiania, and with 7.2 million residents it is the most populous state in the Central-West region and the eleventh most populous in Brazil, accounting for roughly 3.3 percent of the national population.
