La Libertad is a department of Peru on the country's northwestern coast, the ninth smallest department by area but the second most populous after Piura. Its capital is the coastal city of Trujillo, and a 2025 estimate placed the population at 2,056,560 across an area of 25,499.9 square kilometers.
